Lieutenant John Fremantle


John Charles Stephen Fremantle was born in 1841, the son of John William Fremantle and Agnes Lyon. He was commissioned as a cornet in the 10th Hussars on 2 Jan 1858. Promoted to lieutenant on 12 June 1863. In 1864 he transferred to the 2nd Life Guards. He retired from the army on 26 June 1866 and died on 17 Feb 1874 at the age of 32. He was buried at St Mary’s Churchyard, Goring-by-Sea, Worthing, Sussex. The photo is of Cornet John Fremantle in the undress patrol jacket of the 10th Hussars c1862.
