Lord George Montagu-Douglas-Scott


Lord George William Montagu-Douglas-Scott was born on 31 Aug 1866, the third son of the 6th Duke of Buccleuch. He was commissioned into the 10th Hussars as 2nd Lieutenant on 27 Mar 1889, lieutenant on 11 Jun 1890, captain 25 Jun 1897. He fought in the Boer War, and in WW1 commanded the Lothian and Border Horse. He retired from the army in 1919 and was appointed OBE. He was a first class cricketer playing for Middlesex and the MCC. In 1903 he married Lady Elizabeth Manners daughter of the Duke of Rutland and they had 2 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 23 Feb 1947 in Melrose, Scotland.
