Morales del Toro

A contemporary print no. 31 in a series of Peninsula and Waterloo battle scenes by Thomas Sutherland published on 1 Sep 1815. It shows British Hussars wearing either tall busbies or peakless shakos. The 10th Hussars wore black peakless shakos in the Peninsula at this stage, not red as seen here. The colouring of this print is incorrect and too gaudy, but we can see the charging hussars crossing a river and attacking both the first line of French Dragoons and the second line. The main body of the enemy can be seen up on the hill to the right.
