| The waterworks of Sannah’s Post were on the western bank of the Modder River in the Orange Free State. Broadwood’s convoy moved west along the road from Thaba ‘Nchu, crossing Koorn Spruit at the fatal drift. The tin sheds are where Q Battery took refuge and where wounded men were taken. The 10th Hussars were ordered to go around the south end of the ridge to cross at a drift which had been discovered by Lieutenant Chester-Master of Rimington’s Tigers. It was there that the 10th suffered most of their casualties. |
