| Robert Cooper Sawbridge was born in Canada on 22 June 1837. He was the son of James Sawbridge of Kent, and Elizabeth Margaret Irving. He entered the 8th Hussars on 28 July 1854 as a cornet. He was promoted to lieutenant on 10 Aug 1855 . He transferred to the 10th Hussars with the rank of captain on 6 Aug 1858. He retired from the 10th Hussars in 1870 and died on 9 Sep 1886 at the age of 49. The photo shows Captain Sawbridge in the undress uniform of the 10th Hussars c1865. |
