Map of North Spain

The route taken by the Hussar Brigade in November 1808 took them from Corunna (La Coruña) via Lugo, Astorga, Benevente, Zamora, Toro and finally Tordesillas. Sir John Moore and David Baird had their HQ at Mayorga from where the hussars set off for the battle at Sahagun. They returned to Mayorga and the retreat took them back through Benevente where the 10th Hussars distinguished themselves on 29 Dec 1808. The winter retreat took them back along the route that brought them into Spain.
