Private and Officer’s Charger 1793

George Stubbs painted more than one picture of the men and horses of the 10th Light Dragoons. This one has a private in jacket and shell, fully accoutred with carbine, sword and bayonet. His yellow turbaned helmet clearly shows the Feathers badge on the right side. The officer’s charger has a similar shabraque to the one worn on the sergeant’s horse in the better-known painting, but there are wreaths and crowns added to the circular regimental badge.
