British Empire Title

18th Bengal Lancers Cavalry

Pouch Badge 1886 - 1906

This pattern of badge with the letters BL in the centre of cross lances was probably worn by the 18th Bengal Lancers from 1886 when the regiment changed their designation from ‘18th Bengal Cavalry’. It was worn as a gilt badge on the officers’ silver fronted pouch. This example is hallmarked 1897. On the scroll beneath is AFGHANISTAN 1878-80, their first battle honour.
