Officer’s Belt Plate c1830


The burnished gilt plate, worn on the white shoulder-belt, bears a silver garter inscribed REGIMENT around the number 1, all surrounded by a laurel wreath, topped with the Hanoverian crown. The 1st Regiment Bengal Native Infantry was awarded four battle honours on 23 Feb 1829: PLASSEY fought on 23 June 1757, KORAH fought on 10 June 1776, DELHI fought on 11 Sep 1803, and LASWARREE fought on 1 Nov 1803. This belt plate was worn on the shoulder belt of the officers from c1830 onward.
