Simkin's Drum-Horse

The military artist Richard Simkin completed a series of cavalry drum-horses which were undated but covering the period of the last years of the 19th century. This print of the 20th Hussars drummer and drum-horse is clearly based on the photo taken in India in 1895. Simkin has changed the white helmet for the fur busby, and he has made the assumption that the throat plume on the bridle is yellow not crimson.
