Trumpeter and CO c1900

In this illustration by John Charlton, the commanding officer leads the 20th Hussars and appears to be calling a halt which is sounded by his trumpeter. They all wear the home service dress uniform so the assumed publication date of c1900 is very approximate. The 20th Hussars were absent from England from 1895 to 1904 and would not have worn their fur busbies in India, South Africa or Egypt.
