Bandmaster Charles Hartley

Bandmaster Charles Clement Hartley was appointed to the post on 16 Nov 1910 after serving in the ranks for 17 years. Bandmasters trained at Kneller Hall, Hounslow and had the status of warrant officer class 1. He is dressed in the 1904 pattern officers' frock coat with gold and crimson waistbelt, and a red forage cap. He has no rank badges but the embroidered band badge on his right sleeve indicates his appointment. Charles Hartley married Elizabeth Anne Dyer of Cape Town South Africa on 8 April 1902.
