Frank Wilson’s illustration demonstrates the colourful nature of the dress uniform worn by officers of the 2nd Bengal Cavalry only a few years before it was put aside for the less exotic khaki. The blue and gold striped lungi is wrapped around a scarlet and gold pointed kulla. The braiding on his blue kurta is exaggerated but based on the actual pattern, and the officer is in the act of pulling on his glove so that the light blue facing colour of the cuff is revealed. The red kummerbund is wound around his waist, having embroidered Paisley patterns on the hanging end. He has the final pattern of cavalry sword introduced in 1908.
