This painting by Rudolf Swoboda, of Ali Muhammed Khan, was painted c 1893. As a Daffedar he first came to Britain in 1883 with four other representatives of the 2nd Bengal Cavalry to receive medals for the Egyptian War of 1882, from Queen Victoria. He also came to Britain for the 1897 Diamond Jubilee, with the rank of Risaldar-Major, and again in 1903 as a King’s Orderly Officer.
