This print is from a drawing by John Dunlop who was present at the siege of Mooltan. It shows the northeast side of the fort after the surrender of the citadel. There is a funeral procession in the distance where carriages carrying the bodies of Mr Vans Agnew and Lieutenant Anderson can be seen moving up a slope at the breach where troops assaulted the city. On 22 March a man convicted of the murder of the two officers, Gudhar Singh, was publicly executed. The 1st Bombay Lancers would have been part of the procession. The figures in the foreground are irregular troops recruited by Herbert Edwardes.
