Risaldar Lakshiman Rao Jadhu was one of the Orderly Officers representing the Indian Army sent to London in 1912. He was a Mahratta Hindu. The 31st Duke of Connaught’s Own Lancers at that time had 4 Class squadrons; 1st Squadron Dekhani Mahrattas, 2nd Squadron Jats, 3rd Squadron Sikhs and 4th Squadron Pathans. In 1911 the regiment was stationed at Meerut and the uniform was blue with scarlet facings and gold lace.
