British Empire Title

The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders

Other Ranks, No.1 Dress 1978

The dark green No.1 Dress jacket worn by other ranks of the Queen’s Own Highlanders had white piping on the collar and cuffs, and the Assaye Elephant collar badges. This photo shows the back of the jacket which has short squared-off tails with buff turn-backs. There are no buttons on the turn-backs as there were on officers’ jackets. The white waist-belt has a rectangular clasp with the Camerons badge of St Andrew. The bayonet frog is attached to the belt behind the left hip. The men wear glengarry caps as the blue bonnet TOS had been discontinued in No.1 Dress. The MacKenzie tartan kilt is neatly pleated at the back so that the vertical white lines are bunched together on the edge of each pleat. The rifles are the SLR 7.62.
