No.2C Dress was worn by these men when not on parade. The Warrant Officer in the middle is the Regimental Sergeant Major who wears a service dress jacket of officer quality, most noticeable in the shape of the pocket flaps which have pointed corners. He has a brown leather Sam Browne belt which can support a broadsword, and he also has leather gloves. The WO2 on the right is a Company Sergeant Major. He and the sergeant wear rank-and-file service dress jackets with a crimson sash on the right shoulder and a green plastic waist-belt with a rectangular clasp.
They all have rank badges on both sleeves and carry either a pace-stick or cane. The kilts are MacKenzie tartan and a kilt pin can be seen on the RSM’s kilt. They all wear undress brown leather sporrans with a silver crowned thistle badge of the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. The Lovat Green hose are worn with scarlet flashes and black brogues. All three wear the glengarry with a regimental badge and blue hackle. The men posing for this photo are from the same family; Sergeant A Duffus, RSM D Duffus, and CSM J Duffus. The photo was published in Queen’s Own Highlanders by Lt-Col Angus Fairrie (1983). The 1st Battalion QOH was based at Kirknewton near Edinburgh from June 1976 to March 1980.
