This print is based on artwork by William Simpson (1823 - 1899), lithographed by Day & Son and published by Lloyd Bros & Co. of 22 Ludgate Hill, London. The title is ‘The Battle of the Alma showing the decisive charge of the Highland Brigade under Sir Colin Campbell Supported by the Guards and Fusiliers’. It comes from the Brown Digital Repository. The Highlanders are in the foreground in three lines, although the Historical Record says that they were in one mile-long line with the Guards. The Guards are in the middle ground. The village of Burliak can be seen burning on the right, and troops are crossing the river, either by the bridge or wading through the water. The Fleet is out at sea providing more artillery support.
