The sporran worn in full dress by officers of the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders incorporated the crowned thistle in silver on an otherwise all-gilt cantle. The previous pattern was similar apart from the central device. The oval strap with the regimental title is also gilt but looking different in colour to the surrounding oak leaf and thistle decoration. This suggests that the number 79 on the previous 1846 pattern had been removed and replaced by the oval badge. The design continued to be used up until the abolition of full dress in the 20th century, apart from a change of crown in 1902.
