British Empire Title

The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders

Percussionist, No.1 Dress 1976

The xylophone is an unusual instrument for a military band but this photo, taken from Queen s Own Highlanders by Lt-Col Angus Fairrie, shows Band Lance Corporal Burt in 1976. This instrument does not seem to be in the band photo of 1970. He wears a green jacket, officially described as archer green, which is the no.1 dress worn for normal public performances. The Cameron of Erracht tartan was worn as a shoulder plaid and kilt. His rank stripe is in gold lace with an embroidered band badge above. The regiment at that stage was the amalgamated Seaforths and Camerons which existed from 1961 up until 1994, in which year the Gordon Highlanders were added.
