British Empire Title

The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders

Fuentes d’Onor

Harry Payne’s painting of the defence of the village of Fuentes d’Onor depicts the moment a French grenadier sniped at Lieutenant-Colonel Philips Cameron causing him to fall off his horse mortally wounded. A Cameron Highlander is seen charging at the French, being one of the enraged men of the 79th who were spurred on by the shooting of his commanding officer.
