Archibald Young Leslie


Archibald Young Leslie, 14th Laird of Kininvie, Dufftown, Banffshire, was born in 1843 the son of George Abercromby Young Leslie, 13th Laird of Kininvie, and Barbara King Stewart. He served in the 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers from 4 March 1860 when he entered as an ensign. He was promoted to lieutenant on 1 Jan 1862 and captain on 13 May 1874. He transferred to the 79th Cameron Highlanders on 18 Dec 1875. As a captain in the 79th he was promoted to major on 1 July 1881. He was promoted to lieutenant-colonel on 21 May 1890 and appointed commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. He was married to Alice Louise William Anne Cautley. He died in 1913.
