British Empire Title

The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders

The 79th at Waterloo

The title of this print based on artwork by William Heath and published by Robert Bowyer in 1816 is, ‘View from Mont St Jean of the Battle of Waterloo, at the commencement of the grand Charge made on the French about 7 o’clock in the Evening of the 18th June 1815’ Showing the 79th Cameron Highlanders on the left facing a huge mass of French cavalry while the Duke of Wellington and his staff face the other way. The sergeants and men are recognisable from the packs and rolled greatcoats on their backs, and the two officers wave swords, having no packs, but a crimson sash on the left shoulder.
