The rebellion was quelled after a few days by a force commanded by Brigadier-General Nicholson. On 12 July there was a battle at Trimmoo. The 52nd Foot and the 6th Punjab Infantry fought the rebels of the 46th BNI and the right wing of the 9th BLC. Artillery was used against the mutineers, and after a hard fight the Sialkote mutineers were defeated.
