From 1830 the 9th Regiment changed from silver laced to gold laced. This applied to officers who previously had worn silver epaulettes and buttons. From 1830 officers of regular infantry regiments were to have gilt epaulettes and buttons. The shoulder-belt plate prior to 1830 was silver with a silver Britannia badge, but the plate changed to burnished gilt with the figure of Britannia in silver. The lion at her feet was added to the badge around this time.
