British Empire Title

The 9th (The East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot

Officer’s Shako Plate 1844 - 55

The 1844 pattern ‘Albert’ shako had a smaller plate than before, measuring 4.5ins wide by 5.25 deep. The silver hobnail star was discontinued and the circular laurel wreath placed on a universal gilt star. The regimental battle honours are intertwined with the leaves, similar to the previous pattern but with the addition of CABOOL 1842 at the base. The silver figure of Britannia holds a small laurel branch and has no helmet. The crown above the badge is a Victorian crown.
