Lord Cardigan, First Through the Batteries

Cardigan led the charge all the way and was first through the guns. He received a lance thrust which did him no serious harm. He sped through 20 yards clear of the enemy cavalry which was commanded by Prince Radzivill who had met Cardigan in London. He ordered the Earl to be captured but Cardigan got away after another lance wounded him in the thigh.
