Lt Mowbray Thomson

Lt Thompson was another one of the handful of survivors with a remarkable tale to tell. After surviving the entrenchment, he was on the only boat that managed to escape the carnage of Sati Chowra. Although the boat itself and its inhabitants was later recaptured. Fortunately, Lt Thompson had become separated from that boat whilst leading a charge against mutineers who were closing in on the boat whilst it was beached on a sandbank. He and his dwindling band of soldiers were lucky to fall into the hands of the loyal Raja Dirigibijah Singh. His adventures were published as The Story of Cawnpore
