Amphibious Training at Ascension Island

Ascension Island became a key staging post on the way to the Falkland Islands. Many ships were already at sea when the orders arrived to assemble a Task Force. These ships headed to Ascension Island to pick up supplies, refit themselves for war and give the last opportunities to train for the invasion itself. Paradoxically, Ascension Island was very warm at this time of year, whilst the Falkland Islands were heading into their winter.
