HMS Hermes

HMS Hermes became the Flag Ship and headquarters for Admiral John 'Sandy' Woodward. This picture shows her leaving Portsmouth for the South Atlantic. She had actually been sold to the Indian Navy but was hastily reincorporated into the Royal Navy and played a crucial role in providing air cover and support for the Amphibious Assault on the Falkland Islands.
