The 1898 farrier is shown here 5 years later with Boer War medal ribbons. He is now a corporal and wears the first pattern khaki tunic with a turn over collar on which the regimental badge is displayed. It has detachable shoulder straps with a yellow edge for the cavalry. On his head is the blue and white
