Riding School, c1890

All ranks are wearing stable dress. The Riding Master, an officer, holds a whip and wears the special pattern stable jacket. see Officer's Stable Jacket. A corporal is behind him. The privates are equipped as for full dress except that they have pillbox caps and stable jackets. The jackets are not braided like the officer's but are plain blue with yellow piping round the collar and cuff, which has a simple loop. They have a carbine, sword and sabretache. Their white pouchbelts have brass buckles and a plain black leather pouch with no badge on it.
