Lieutenant Dalbiac, 1801

Jack George Dalbiac entered the 11th as a cornet in February 1798, became a Lieutenant in May 1800 and transferred to the 4th Dragoons as a Captain in October 1801. The light dragoon jacket that he wears has closer braiding than the sleeved jacket worn a few years earlier. It is tight-fitting and waist length, worn with pale buff breeches and black boots. The chain shoulder scales were to protect the wearer from sword cuts but were discontinued after a year or two. The helmet is quite striking and worn tilted to one side. The turban is now leopard-skin having been blue in 1798 and buff in 1785. The silver title over the peak reads XI LIGHT DRAGOONS.
