Officer's Jacket, 1812

The new style uniform that was received by the 11th in 1813 when they returned from the Peninsula. It replaced the old braided jacket. It was dark blue with buff collar, plastron style lapels and cuffs. There was also buff coloured piping following the seams at the back and down the sleeve. The Prince of Wales became the Prince Regent in 1811 and set about redesigning the uniforms of his army and this was his design for the Light Dragoons. Britain had no Lancer regiments at the time but this jacket closely resembled the jacket of the continental lancer regiments.
