Shabraque Ornament

The GR cypher was used on apointments during the reign of George III. He died in 1820 but it took a year or two before the introduction of the more elaborate reverse GR cypher of George IV. The cypher and numerals are in silver embroidery as the 11th was a 'silver' regiment until 1830 when gold lace and braid was ordered for all regiments. The crown was always in gold and coloured embroidery.
