7th Dragoons

Officer 1770

This profile miniature shows the same uniform as that worn by Samuel Russell but gives us a clearer view of the epaullette on his left shoulder. It is silver lace on red cloth with a fringe. The white collar can be seen to go all the way round the back of his neck as opposed to the tabs on the 1751 uniform. The black stock round Samuel Russell's neck is not in evidence here, and I cannot explain why this officer has powdered hair while Russell does not.
