Sergeant-Major c1870

By this time the other ranks had a collar badge which was a plain wreath. The Regimental Sergeant-Major, here has a special pattern full dress tunic which has gold lace around the top of the collar and the top of the pointed cuff with a large trefoil shape. Inside this is a tracing of Russia braid forming a knot similar to the officers' tunics. The cuffs are of yellow cloth and since 1868 were pointed instead of round with a slash flap. The collar and shoulder straps are also yellow, the latter edged in white piping. An order of 1869 stated that sergeant-majors should have their chevrons below the elbow. He has four gold lace stripes and a crown on the right sleeve. He is well decorated with six medals which identifies him as RSM Guish who can be seen as a colour sergeant in the group Sergeants c1860.
