The Warwickshire Regiment

Officers, Undress 1902

These officers of the 4th Battalion are dressed in red frocks which have blue collars with badges, and pointed blue cuffs. This item of dress is clear on the two officers seated on chairs on the left of the photo but some of them may be wearing the blue frock. The brown leather Sam Browne belts have two shoulder straps which cross over at the back. The blue cloth field service caps have red welts and the antelope badge.

The officer standing with a forage cap is wearing the smart blue frock coat with a crimson sash around his waist and white gloves instead of brown leather. His name is Captain Toogood and his rank is indicated with two stars on his shoulder straps. The commanding officer is Lieut-Col H E Irwin who served in the Sudan with the 1st Battalion.
