Sergeant-Major in Undress, 1890

Senior NCOs had a plainer patrol jacket than the officers, without the black lace across the chest. The fur hat was for winter wear; in summer, the pillbox cap was worn. The yellow bag on the right side of the fur cap is buttoned down. His rank is denoted by four gold lace chevrons, point down with embroidered gold crown above, all worn on the lower right sleeve.
