A group of British Officers with, seated in the middle, their commanding officer, Hugh Gough. He is not to be confused with Sir Hugh Gough who commanded the Army against the Sikhs. This photo was taken in 1874 when Gough was Lieutenant-Colonel, but he was only a major when he took command of the regiment on 20th September 1867 in time for the Abyssinian Expedition. |
