Skinner's Horse

Risaldar, 1896

An Indian officer whose rank is equated to Captain. This Simkin print was published in 1901 but he appears to be out of date with his information. The colour of the turban and kummerbund here is red whereas they changed to black, the facing colour, when they converted to lancers in 1896. This uniform is full dress and differs from the more elaborate uniform worn later (see Risaldar-Major Abdul Gaffar Khan 1903). The pouchbelt is plain black leather which is odd when one considers that the pouch was the elaborate black velvet and gold embroidered type (see Pouchbelts).
