43rd Erinpura Regiment

Colour Havildar (Mina)

The uniform of the 43rd was distinctive. The most remarkable feature is the voluminous pair of scarlet trousers. They are tucked into buff gaiters with a brown leather strip down the side. Also of note is the colourful red and yellow turban. It would be reasonable to suppose that the British officers would wear the rifle green tunic with black braid, but in fact the tunic was green faced red with gold braid.
