This figure seated cross legged by the wheel of a maxim gun is an NCO, (probably a naik since he does not wear the havildar's sash) receiving instruction at the school of musketry at Pachmarhi in the Central Provinces. The quoit badge on his turban clearly shows that he is 45th Rattray's.
