The Light Dragoons

Guidon Party

The two guidons of the former regiments are about to be marched onto parade at Hohne in Germany. The front guidon is that of the 13th/18th and the rear guidon is that ofthe 15th/19th. They are being carried by Warrant Officers class 2 and flanked by colour sergeants carrying swords. At the rear is the Regimental Sergeant-Major. They are standing in front of a Scimitar armoured car. Most of the uniform details are from the 19th/15th. The red forage cap, the double yellow stripes down the trousers and the badges of rank on red cloth (with the lion and crown over the chevrons). The only obvious relic of the 13th/18th is the buff flash on the collar. The RSM has the officer's style of collar which is pale yellow all round with gold lace edge. He also has an officer's style of forage cap which is flatter and has a more horizontal, gold edged, peak. His sword hilt has a gold sword knot instead of the white leather version of the more junior NCOs and he wears the officer's gold and white pouch belt, which could be the old 13th or 19th Hussars' belt.
