His Imperial and Royal Highness Frederick Wilhelm Victor Augustus Ernest, Crown Prince of the German Empire and of Prussia

Son of Kaiser Wilhelm II. He was appointed Colonel-in-Chiel of the 11th Hussars on 15th May 1911. He sent a message to the regiment: "I am proud of having been promoted your Colonel. I hope to see you all when in England. Hearty Greetings." The 11th had established it's German connection in 1840 when The Prince Consort had been appointed Colonel of the regiment and this was regarded as a continuation of the connection. In May 1914 Wilhelm sent a painting of himself in 11th Hussar uniform to be presented to the regiment. The photo shows the Crown Prince in full dress uniform at Shorncliffe in 1911. He has two star decorations on his chest, one is German, the other is the Garter star that goes with the blue sash under his pouchbelt as he was appointed Knight of the Garter (KG) by George V.
