Row of Shermans

The Sherman was a dramatic improvement on anything the British had seen so far in the War. The 13th/18th converted from the Covenanter to the Sherman in 1943 but did not receive the DD version until D-Day itself.

The man sitting above the driver's position on the first tank is Gordon Beattie (wearing the light coloured battle dress or shirt).
