Lieutenant T E Lawson-Smith




Thomas Edward Lawson-Smith came from Tadcaster, Yorks. He was born in 1889 the son of Edward Maule and Ethel Mary Lawson-Smith of Colton Lodge. He was educated at Harrow and passed out of Sandhurst to join the 13th Hussars on 15th Sep 1909. He arrived at the regiment in India on 10th Dec 1909 and was posted to 'A' Squadron. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1913, and was killed in action near Messines on 1st Nov 1914. His brother John, of the West Yorks, was killed a few days earlier.
