Lieutenant August 1883. Captain October 1890. Major November 1901. Lieutenant-Colonel July 1905, commanding te regiment until he retired in 1909. He was Adjutant 14th Yeomanry Brigade from 1896 to 1901 and commanded a battalion of Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa. Operations in Cape Colony, May 1902.
