| Thomas Bennet rose from the ranks and was appointed Quartermaster of the 14th Light Dragoons in 1850 while the regiment was serving in India. He was given the honorary rank of lieutenant and was QM for 12 years until he retired in 1862. He wears the light dragoon uniform 1855-61 which was blue with red collar and cuffs and gold cord. Instead of a shako he was distinguished by wearing a bicorn hat with white plume. His whiskers cover his rank badge which was an embroidered crown on each side of his collar. |
